Vojtech Birgus and Tommaso Lovati shared the silverware in the ACCR Formula 4 Trophy season opener at Red Bull Ring last weekend
Vojtech Birgus won the first-ever ACCR Formula 4 Trophy race, held at the Red Bull Ring past Saturday. Although LEMA Racing driver Tommaso Lovati had outdistanced Birgus (Trevor Racing) by over ten seconds, the Czech was awarded victory after Lovati received a 30-second time penalty for grid position infringement. Zénó Kovács (JMT Racing) completed the podium.
In race 2 on Sunday, Lovati made no mistakes and triumphed, this time again crossing the line on P1 but without having taken victory from him. Birgus came a close runner-up, just 0.32 seconds behind. Again, Hungary’s Kovacs rounded off the Top 3.
“We are very happy that we could officially start our new series. As we are still waiting for Tatuus to deliver the Gen2 cars, in Austria only the Trophy event was held, which is run with Tatuus T014 models only,” series promoter Josef Krenek explained.
